'Saturday Night Live': Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes us laugh, Sarah Palin is President in '2012'

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's "Saturday Night Live" "Make 'Em Laugh" performance was one of the best openings we've seen in awhile, followed by an excellent faux-movie trailer for "2012." If you aren't familiar with the song "Make 'Em Laugh," you should go out and rent "Singin' in the Rain" as soon as possible. The number is comedian Donald O'Connor's most famous performance . Tonight Joseph Gordon-Levitt opened "Saturday Night Live" with a full performance of "Make 'Em Laugh," complete with backflips off the scenery just like O'Connor did in "Singin' in the Rain." It was delightful. Video as soon as it's available. Follow the Levitt's opening, "SNL" brought us a trailer for disaster movie "2012." Except the "disaster" part of the movie was Sarah Palin being elected president in 2012. The worst part? Glenn Beck was her VP. It's unfortunate the show followed up those gems with a painfully unfunny spoof on the old game show "Password." But we guess you can only hope for a couple bright spots on ...

'Cougar Town' halts production for Courteney Cox's 'family matter'

"Cougar Town" production has been temporarily suspended while star Courteney Cox tends to a family matter. An ABC rep tells People , "We can confirm production on "Cougar Town" has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter." Neither the show nor reps for Courteney Cox-Arquette would say what the matter is. We certainly hope it's nothing as series as NBC pushing back the "Parenthood" premiere while Maura Tierney received cancer treatments. (Tierney ultimately quit the show and was replaced by Lauren Graham.) The Zap2it team is a big fan of "Cougar Town," so we wish Courteney luck with whatever she is dealing with and hope everything turns out okay. Hurry back, Courteney! 'All My Children' leaving their head writer in New York

Charles Pratt, Jr. has been fired as the "All My Children" head writer. Pratt joined the show in June 2008 and a little over a year later he is on his out. "All My Children" announced earlier this year that it will be moving its production of the show from New York City to Los Angeles; they are apparently leaving their head writer behind, according to Soap Central . Viewers have been unhappy with the show's direction since Pratt joined the writing staff and one columnist even told viewers to boycott until Pratt was removed from his post. A replacement for Pratt has yet to be announced but this is the third head writing change for "All My Children" in three years. Hopefully soon they'll find someone who can stick around. 'Twilight: New Moon' makes box office history

"Twilight: New Moon" has surpassed "The Dark Knight" to have the most successful opening day at the box office ever, earning $72.7 million. It hardly comes as a surprise, considering "New Moon" took in a record-setting $26 million at its midnight showings Thursday night. However, the $72 million on opening day absolutely smashed the previous record of $67 million, held by "The Dark Knight." It will be interesting to see what "New Moon" does to the three-day weekend numbers of "The Dark Knight," which earned $158.4 million its first box office weekend. Critics have not been kind to "New Moon," but we don't think it will effect the numbers too much. "New Moon" has doubled the $36 million opening day take for "Twilight" from a year ago. If this trend continues, "Breaking Dawn" will open to almost $290 million in one day. Fast National ratings for Friday, Nov. 20, 2010. Not everyone was out seeing "Twilight: New Moon" last night. CBS won the overall night with 8 million viewers and a 5.1 rating/9 share in households. ABC finished second in viewers, with 6.8 million (4.1 rating/7 share in households) but NBC's 6.6 million viewers had a larger rating and share of households at 4.3/8. FOX remained in fourth place with just under 3.5 million viewers, 2.3 rating/4 share in households. The CW brought up the rear with 1.7 million viewers and a 1.1/2. The 18-49 demo was a tie between CBS and ABC at 1.9, NBC was third at 1.4, then FOX with 1.0 and finally the CW at 0.7.
